The new abode
We live in the north east of Seoul in Jungnang-gu district. We're in a 6th floor apartment, in a building that stands amongst 12 identical buildings in the Sinnae Four complex. Thankfully, there is a bit of space between the buildings- space that is occupied by courtyards and quiet roads that fill with markets on a Saturday.
Here are a couple of snaps of our apartment, taken about a week after moving in. We are hoping to gradually get some more interesting decorations for the walls and some cushions etc to brighten the place up. We are told that the apartment is big by Korean standards. The couple next door live with their two daughters in one the same size- maybe we should sub-let?
We've been told that the apartment looks modern in photos that we have sent to friends and family- the lino imitation floor boards obviously scrub up pretty good on the screen!
If you look closely at the photo taken from the front door you can see a smoke detector, a light, and a flat silver object on the roof. The flat silver object is a speaker that (we are guessing) the last residents tried to cover with foil to muffle. At about 9am we often get what we assume are messages for our building in Korean though the mystery speaker. The first time it happened you can imagine the state of alarm and confusion it caused.
